Amber and Stella have completed their rehabilitation and are looking for their forever homes! Poor Whisky needs more time.
As many of you know we took in thirteen rescue geckos back at the start of August, most have successfully been re-homed with only three left still waiting.
Amber

Amber is a female harlequin crested gecko who had been neglected by her previous owner. When

she arrived with us she was cranky, underweight and had signs of MBD - she has come a long way! Amber is now a healthy 44g, shes accepting handling well and eating like a champ! Amber still has MBD as there is no cure once the symptoms kick in, but she has not gotten any worse, with the correct husbandry she will live a full and happy life. Amber has quite the derpy personality - as you can see from her latest photo-shoot, she doesn't sit still for too long!
Stella

Oh my sweet Stella, this girl is amazing! Stella is an adult female crested gecko; shes sweet as can be, enjoys regular handling and is very healthy. Stella didn't need much in the ways of rehabilitation other than correct food and

lighting to get her strength back. She will make a perfect pet.
Unfortunately through no fault of her own Stella has had three adoptions fall through, Id keep her in a heartbeat if i had the room but she deserves a quiet retirement where she will be spoilt and loved for the rest of her days.
Whisky

Whisky is a female tailess red phantom crested gecko who had been used for breeding for far longer than her tiny body could cope with. She was housed with ten other adult crested geckos and was obviously not big enough to compete for food hence her extremely poor body condition.
This poor girl has really had it hard - she came to us so emaciated and terrified of people that I did not think she would survive a week!

Although she has gained enough weight to take her off the "danger list" after four months in our care she is not yet well enough to be declared "healthy". It is taking a long time but we are making progress. She still "mouths" at me when i handle her, but she does not attempt to bite; its a fear response that shows that she still doesn't' feel 100% safe which is just so sad.
Whisky wont be released for adoption until i can be sure that she can first gain and then maintain a healthy weight. She still needs some work with handling, but she will get there with patience and a lot of TLC. We won't give up on her.
If you would like to offer any of these sweet girls their perfect retirement home please don't hesitate to get in touch. We wont re-home to houses with small children as these girls have been through enough, the last thing they need is to get squashed by an over-exited child!
There will be a fifty euro adoption fee to cover the costs of their rehabilitation.
