Baby Geckos. So.many.baby.Geckos! - New Arrivals at The Reptile Room - Ireland

Hatching season is in full swing here in The Reptile Room!

It's an exciting time here at The Reptile Room!

So far, Ladybug and Pippin have produced six, whilst Severus and Miss Ruby have produced three beautiful baby "Cresties" (Crested Gecko babies), and with six eggs still in the incubator we are far from done!

As all baby geckos are un-sexed, we use placeholder names to help tell them apart. This season babies produced by Pippin have been given Lord Of The Rings themed names, where as babies produced by Severus have been given Harry Potter themed names.

Welcome to the nursery - meet the new baby geckos

So,*drumroll* (A quiet drumroll, shhh) let me open up the nursery and introduce you to the babies! (Babies are listed in birth order).

Brown gecko named "Frodo" is perched on a finger. The background is a softly blurred room with plants, creating a calm atmosphere.

Frodo

Frodo was the first hatchling of 2025 to parents Ladybug and Pippin.

He's a Harlequin Crested gecko, very friendly and eating well.

Frodo is a fab little one, with a great personality.

Adoption fee: 80 Euro

Brown gecko perched on a fingertip, labeled "Sam". Indoors with blurred plants in the background, creating a warm and calm atmosphere.

Sam

Sam hatched a day after Frodo, he is a Red Phantom/possibly Dalmation as Ladybug (Mother) has a habit of passing down her spotty genes to her phantom babies.

Sam is not a great eater and has struggled to gain weight but that hasn't stopped him from escaping TWICE! This little guy is quick and sneaky! (I should have called him Gollum).

Adoption fee: 80 Euro

A small gecko licks its eye while perched on a finger, against a blurred dark blue and red background. Text reads "Luna."

Luna

Little Luna here is a special one; the first ever Lily White hatched out in The reptile Room! Her parents are Severus and Miss Ruby - this was their first time paring and first baby hatch!

Adoption fee: 100 Euro

Brown gecko perched on a person's finger indoors, with blurred green background. Text "Merry" is visible above the gecko.

Merry

Merry - another little red phantom from Ladybug and Pippin. Merry already has a couple of spots so I think he will be a Dalmation for sure. Merry is a great eater and just beautiful.

Merry is SOLD

A gecko with shedding skin rests on a textured log. The word "Dobby" is visible. Earthy tones dominate the image, conveying calmness.

Dobby

A full week after Luna made her appearance her lazy little brother Dobby emerged! Amazingly, we have another Lily White from Severus and Miss Ruby. I am thrilled; "the odds are ever in our favour" (Ref to Hunger Games, which my daughter has us re-watching the hunger games... for the 500th time).

Adoption fee: 100 Euro

Gecko Conjoined Twins

Gollum and Smeagol arrived next but unfortunately they were born as conjoined twins and did not survive the hatching process. It was so sad that these guys didn't make it; conjoined twins in the Gecko world is, thankfully, quite rare.

You can read about them HERE.

A small gecko with a textured brown and orange pattern crawls on rough bark. The word "Bilbo" appears on the image.

Bilbo

Bilbo was the first of our October babies and he's a big boy; at 2.11g he's the biggest of this years hatchlings. Bilbo is a Harlequin with Dalmation spots courtesy of Ladybug.

Adoption fee: 80 Euro

A brown gecko named "Gimli" perched on a textured branch with blurred green and brown background, conveying a calm mood.

Gimli

Just two days later, we got baby Gimli: another Red Phantom from Ladybug and Pippin. Gimli is very adventurous and will not sit still! By contrast to his clutchmate, Gimli hatched at a tiny 1.60g but is eating well and gaining weight slowly.

Adoption fee: 80 Euro

A brown gecko is gently held in a hand with "Ginny" written in white text. The background is softly blurred.

Ginny

And that brings us to our latest baby from Miss Ruby and Severus; little Ginny. Morph to be

confirmed, I suspect harlequin but I've been wrong before.

Adoption fee is 80 Euro unless confirmed to be a lilywhite, in that case it will be 100 Euro.

A brown gecko rests on a person's palm. "Nova" is labeled on the image. The background is blurred, highlighting the gecko's detail.
Nova - Still looking for a forever home. One of our rescues.

Nova

Lets not forget our little rescue baby Nova, not hatched here but raised here in The Reptile Room. Nova is a very slow grower and still only 4.25g.

She's eating live food now so hopefully that will help her take a jump in weight.

Speaking of jumpy; oh my goodness this girl has a death wish for sure! The jumps she does are impressive!

Eggs and Gecko Mommas: What's next?

We have six eggs in our incubator still to hatch, and then that's our ladies done for the year!

Orange gecko on black pumpkin with "Happy Halloween" text. Surrounded by colorful autumn leaves and decorations. Festive and cozy mood.
One of our Gecko Mommas; Ladybug. Ready for a well-earned rest!

Miss Ruby and Ladybug are now on a breeding break until spring. It is very important for their health and well-being that they get to rest and recuperate between seasons.

They need to regain the weight and calcium stores that were used up whilst producing eggs every month for eight months.

It wont take long before they are back to their chunky selves - extra bugs for them! *Nom om om*

Until next time...

Sarah
