The Reptile Room October update

Who's in, who's out and who's surprising us in The Reptile Room.

What a month we have had! The launch of our website has been a huge boost for us and our beasties; with 14 adoptions we were able to upgrade our room heater to better maintain an ambient room temp of 22 degrees Celsius, which means that we don't have to provide supplemental heat to the geckos in The Reptile Room, (with the exception of the Klemmeri geckos who need 30.C). We have also been able to add an additional five nozzles to our MistKing misting system which solves the problem I've been having with five of our vivariums struggling to maintain humidity.

The most amazing thing to come from the success of the website has been the difference its made to our rescue gecko Krinkle; thanks to the many very generous donations we have received we have been able to get her life saving surgery and shes making amazing progress! Krinkle has now recovered from her surgery and is now in a fully bioactive 45 45 45 vivarium where she basks lazily on her cork bark tunnels, when shes not actively hunting dusted crickets and isopods. Shes very active; jumping, climbing and exploring her new space.... and shes still a little sweetheart. Huge thankyou to everyone who donated to help her, I cant tell you what it means to me.

Crumble, Cookie, Toad and Stella have all been adopted by wonderful people, im delighted for them. After everything they have been through they deserve a quiet retirement.

New additions, new plans....

After searching for a few months i have finally been able to source another 60x45x60 vivarium, this one will be for Bonnie and Beau (our soon to be pair of Tumucumaque dart frogs). I'm also thinking of adding mourning geckos to the viv as they do so well across the room in Dash and Darts viv of the same size.

Before we can begin that project i need to start Krinkles new home; i'm planning on moving her into the spare 45 60 45 until she is big and strong enough to move to something even bigger. I have some amazing pieces of cork bark and my mind is full of ideas for this new build. Its going to be epic! Only the best for our special girl.

I have also had an ingenious idea for The Shop; "nursery jars" you will get a fully bioactive mini terrarium in a jar with two dwarf gecko babies, prices to vary on species. Obviously these are intended as temporary homes for the babies to grow out in whilst you prepare their permanent vivarium.

Babies!

In the last two days we welcomed two new baby crested geckos; Bilbo and Gimli. As you may have figured out by now, this year we are naming all babies produced by Severus after Harry Potter characters, and all babies produced by Pippin are named after LOTR

characters. It makes it easier for me to remember who sired each hatchling, and with seven baby cresties in The Reptile Room anything to make life easier is a win for me!

We also welcomed three baby mourning geckos and another tiny baby Cameroon gecko. Our Auratus super blue dart frog tadpoles are delevloping well, i expect they will be getting their legs soon.
